The studio's original plan had the film shooting next year, during Marin's hiatus from his Fox Network series "The Ortegas."
A U.S. District judge in Pittsburgh handed down the sentence on Thursday, along with a $20,000 fine as Chong pleaded guilty in May to selling marijuana pipes over the Internet.
Chong, who had no criminal record, asked the court Thursday for a sentence of community service. The sentencing guidelines for the felony charge of conspiring to distribute drug paraphernalia is six to nine months in prison and a $250,000 fine.
