They (http://www.the-state.com/) say "...MTV tells us the project is still alive and they want to release the DVD in the next six months." Right! I'll tip my hat to the new constitution, et cetera, et cetera...
And I still can't find any info on if or when the second season of "Upright Citizens Brigade" might be coming out, and it's already been a full year since the release of season one!
Why does god hate me?

I didn't like UCB when it was first on but I think my tastes in comedy have matured a bit since then and maybe I should give it another look. I don't know what The State is or was though.

"The State" was a sketch comedy show on MTV. (See, I didn't even do that lame-ass "eMpTy-V" thing this time.) I see it as kind of a missing link between "Kids in the Hall" and "Mr. Show". They have cast members in common with "Reno 911", the movie "Wet Hot American Summer" and the comedy trio of "Stella". You can download sketches from StateMedia.net (http://www.statemedia.net/), if you're so inclined. Or, if you have the means, search for "MTV's The State" using your favorite file sharing program. That way you can see the clever links between the sketches that Bob & David seem to get all the credit for resurrecting from Monty Python's grave.
And download some UCB stuff while you're at it. I guess I say this about a lot of things, but there's some shit and there's some BRILLIANT shit. Is it worth it? Let me work it... Sorry. Give it a shot. See whatcha think. Always a good idea to try before you buy, though.

Everyone here knows more about comedy than me but I make up for my ignorance by posting nonstop.
(Thanks for the hot tip, Brother Steven)

A few select sketches from "The State" (so yuz don't have to go through 'em all or just pick 'em randomly).
Old Fashioned Guy - Women Voters (http://www.statemedia.net/moviewin.php?id=75)
Grandma's Potato Chowder (http://www.statemedia.net/moviewin.php?id=70)

The Bearded Men of Space Station 11 (http://www.statemedia.net/moviewin.php?id=180)

Li'l Brown Dog Food (http://www.statemedia.net/moviewin.php?id=240)
Prison Break (http://www.statemedia.net/moviewin.php?id=254)
Hmm, reminds me of Kids in the Hall, which is a good thing. The acting is great. I shall have to seriously consider purchasing the dvd when it's released.
And so long as we're giving clips of shows we like but no one else does, here's some from Brass Eye.
All Hands On Ducks (http://chilled.cream.org/divx/brass_eye_uncut-all_hands_on_ducks_cookdandbombd.co.uk.avi)
Horrorcaust (http://chilled.cream.org/divx/brass_eye_uncut-horrorcaust_cookdandbombd.co.uk.avi)
Pissed Christ (http://chilled.cream.org/divx/brass_eye_uncut-pissed_christ_cookdandbombd.co.uk.avi)
The first one is a hefty 14mb, but still good. I would stress that these are far from favourite clips, just the only ones I could find. They're outtakes in fact, which weren't in the programs.

I got to the grainy security cam video of the man fellating his pistol and I have decided that British comedy is redeemed. I gotta hit the sack directly, but I'll check these out when I wake up. Thanks Pali.

MTV also released a long ass time ago a State "Best of" DVD called "Skits and Stickers" which a dude bought for me my freshman year of high school.
Then I let Matthew Morgan borrow it my junior year and he never gave it back. Now he works at a convenience store and whenever I go there so he'll sell me beer I remind him he still has it and he won't own up to it. More like an inconvenient store!!!
BARF.
