“Comics Stand Up”

Politics is no laughing matter? Wrong!

August 14th, a group of San Francisco sketch and standup comics stand up for what they believe in, with a jokefest for a cause, “Comics Stand Up.”

“To paraphrase Rakim,” says event organizer and radio talker Jesse Thorn, “We ain’t no joke, and we’re about to let the mic smoke. We’re at a crucial juncture in this country, and if we can tell some jokes and make a difference, then it’s incumbent upon us to do it.”

Comics Stand Up features a variety of comedians, from newcomers (award-winning sketch from Prank the Dean) to veterans (SF legend Mike Meehan) to authors (Harmon Leon, “The Harmon Chronicles”) to films (political shorts from The Partisan Jab.) What ties all these jokesters together is their serious commitment to creating a better country for all of us.

Date: Saturday, August 14th
Time: 8 PM
Location: Off-Market Theater, 965 Mission at Fifth St., San Francisco

Who: Sketch comedy from Prank the Dean, standup comedy from Mike Meehan (the Meehan Bros, Comedy Central), Harmon Leon (author of “The Harmon Chronicles), Jordan Morris (KZSC FM), Mike Spiegelman, plus short films from The Partisan Jab (as seen on musicforamerica.org)

What: Comics Stand Up is a comedy benefit for regime change at home. All proceeds from the evening’s program will benefit America Coming Together, a partisan non-profit organization working to register underrepresented voters in swing states.

Public Contact: The Off-Market Theater, 415-896-6477

whatever this place is totally shithouse. whoever designed your roads here was too busy sucking a fat black dick to take their goddamn add medicine and make a highway system that was usable and convenient. i'd rather ride a buttplug down a cobblestone street than try to navigate this mess of asphalt.

The roads are terrible, but the Atlantic Ocean isn't so bad, once you get used to all the brown-ness it has from New Jersey. Plus little kids poop in it while they're on vacation. It's true, my brother found a turd in the sand before.

But enough family vacation moments.

Yea, what the fuck? I've never visited any state outside of Texas besides North Carolina, but I had a layover one time in New York on my way to Spain and when we flew over New Jersey there were all these random large fields of brown water. What the fuck was all that and why is it brown?

New Jersey is my dirty, dirty neighbor state.

One of the weird things about an internet message board is I have absolutely no way to know if that's a joke or not.

Oh man that reminds me of every episode of That 70's show I've ever seen.

Do you write for that show Cpt?

Because I want to ask you, what is Ashton really like?

ahem.

no i was there and i did enjoy myself. i am not kidding about that. honestly. Prank The Dean does rock and while that isn't funny as a statement, it does provide some meaningful information and context on the intrinsic humor value of Prank The Dean.
