The reviews I've read say Rodriguez's movie is better as a literal movie and Tarantino's is only good in the context of it being a Tarantino movie (i.e. it's long and overly talky - you'll only like it if you like Tarantino stuff).

And they say Eli Roth's faux-trailer for Thanksgiving is awesome, check it out:
