Ever considered buying a banner ad on the somethingawful forums?

They cost $8.95, and they rotate for a month. It would be a good way to bring more people into the community, as I know there are a lot of fans of David and Mr. Show. As long as the ad is not obnoxious they should be a pretty respectful and intelligent crew, barring the occasional bad apple.

EDIT: Also who would you pick for a moderator? Me or tjamick? (Inside tip: I heard tjamick is fat. Just something to consider.)

i have a couple good ideas for banners, such as one with bob saying "this summer, america will blow up the moon, then the site logo, and then show people saying things such as "since i went to blowupthemoon.com, my baby doesnt cry anymore." , "with blowupthemoon.com, the checks come straight to my front door, and i dont even have to leave my house!", and "thanks to blowupthemoon.com my AIDS is gone!"

They wouldn't visit a different forum anyway just because "it's not SA". There actually are some cool cats over there. yeah, that's a good point about the fanboys probably not caring enough to venture off the site. There are some decent posters over there. And I'll have you know my infertility stems from a lawn dart accident thank you very much.

Why do you have to pay?

A) To offset the bandwidth bills for a forum with over 30,000 members. It runs above 10TB/mo. if memory serves.

B) To keep out spammers, 10 year olds, and other riff-raff.

and tj: The admins can be a little dickish sometimes but it's still worth the 10 bucks.

SA is worth more than two packs of camels. Once you join you'll know why. The admins are not nazis. Just follow the simple rules and you won't be banned. eg of rule... don't post "hey first post on page 4". I can live with that for all I get back and the site doesn't cause lung cancer.
