Finally saw this DVD that focuses on the Boston Comedy scene from (mostly) the 80s.
Pretty interesting. Worth a watch.
Not sure how accurate the history is, could be a lot of fucked up memories. It doesn't get into the demise of the market really. A must see for Steven Wright fans as it shows a clip of his first appearance on Carson. Man he was so nervous.
Also, the DVD bonus features have Dane Cook! Talking about how he started in Boston way back when..watching Cross Comedy (hosted by David Cross) and doing the open mic at that show (not sure if Cross was the host of the show but it was the same club).
Dane might not be the most original comedian, but he sure does have a pretty good grasp on the business side of the art.
Not much Leary on the DVD so Hicks fans can even enjoy it!
