I actually looked at that thread every couple of months hoping the dickhead would host it again. I give you credit for posting a dead link. A dead fucking link. For shame, Thomas Jefferson Amick! For shame!

What, for this (http://blowupthemoon.com/community/showthread.php?s=&threadid=645) old thing?
Ahhhhhhh yes. Good times. Good times, indeed.
Anyway, I doubt I'll get an answer to this here, but I wanna know what kind of guitar that was Karen was playing at the end. I don't think I've ever seen one quite like that.
Anyway, I'm gonna get Sethy a new computer keyboard. One with punctuation on it.

My dad knows about guitars and so I wrote him an email asking about it and his reply:
That is One Original Looking guitar!
I have zero ideer of what it be, though.
We'll have to contact Karen Kilgariff somehow- and axe her!
love you !

NOTE: My dad's insane.

That would be cool if he did.

ps: [the guitar in question] looks to me like a Longhorn, made by, among others, Danelectro.

Right, but the Dan-o Longhorns don't have F-holes or look wooden-ish. Plus I think Karen's guitar looks wider than those.
I stumbled onto a website a few months back that had a ton of old, weird guitars. I think there was one like that on there, but I didn't make a note of what it was. I wonder if I can find that again. Anyway, I just wanted to post the same question I did in the old thread to see if anyone would notice (or feel it's interesting enough to comment on).

it looks to me like a 1960's japanese guitar, but i cant think of any specific company names or anything.
(they're pretty crummy guitars. lotta flare with little value.)

That all sounds about right.
I wish I could remember how I stumbled onto that site where I thought I saw another guitar like that so I could stumble back. I remember them having a ton of shit divided up by decade. I just tried to track it down, but I couldn't. If it mattered, I would have written it down before. It's not like I actually intend to track one of these things down and purchase it. Like Hound (forgive me, I'm dyslexic) said...

don't get me wrong, they're great for a garage or surf band. i have a couple shitty 60's japanese guitars i picked up for $30 and they'd be terrible if i wanted to, i dont know, maybe bend a string, but they're fun for other reasons.

Interesting. That's a bass, though. Also, the headstock on Karen's guitar doesn't look like a Dan-o. Maybe it's a frankenstein kinda thing.

he says that it's a custom made out of a "MCA/Longhorn" body, whatever the hell that means, and various danelectro parts.
I googled it and all i came up with was record labels.

This site explains alot. It looks like a Coral Longhorn with a different peghead. There were no longhorn models that used that shape.

I'm looking at that "dolphin" headstock and wondering if it might be the Sears (Silvertone) version.

It looks more like the '67 Dan Hawk, Convertible Coral Sitar, Hornet, Firefly' head to me in the video. The top looked too wide to me in the video to be the Dolphin one but my eyes aren't what they used to be.

Thaaaaaaaaaanks, Rooooooooooooooooob.
One problem. Actually, three problems. Actual actually, one problem thrice. Your first three links don't work as they are. You have to add a "dot com" before the "slash files".
I haven't checked any of this stuff out yet, so if I'm helping to spread a virus or something, I apologize.
