While channel surfing, I came across the Bravo channel's Celebrity Poker Tournament. David Cross (wearing a bathrobe and his "lucky yarmulke") made it to the final round and played against Nicole Sullivan from "MadTV," Creed frontman Scott Stapp, Carrie Fisher and some other guy whose name I don't remember. Scott, Carrie and the other guy were eliminated. Nicole then defeated David. On the bright side, the charity David played for won $50,000.

Actually, he only won 20,000. But he was fucking hilarious during the whole thing ("The orphans I'm doing the charity for are gonna be psyched about that" was my personal fave.)

Actually David played against Scott Stapp and Carrie Fisher the first time, and then won. He came back for the final tournament, which had Nicole Sullivan, David Cross, and Paul Rudd as the final three. It was interesting that the three left were basically Sketch Comedy actors (I'm counting Paul Rudd because of Wet Hot American Summer). Nicole Sullivan beat David Cross then.

I didn't catch the poker game, but I caught Kilborn when Nicole Sullivan was the guest. I find it ironic that Nicole was playing for some strayed cat charity...and she beat David, who was playing for some orphans! I'm sure y'all remember the bit from "The Pride Is Back" where David asked, "Hey...can the cat spare some change?"

please tell me you are joking? She was playing for a cat charity. My god I just lost some respect for that woman. Dave must have been pissed.
I leave all my possesions to Ms. Cinderella so she can live a life a luxury... plus, Fuck the homeless.

David wasn't really playing for some orphans, that was a joke.
He was playing for some Gulf War Veterans fund, which is still a better charity that the cats thing.

I don't have a problem with Mad Tv. Yes ofcourse some of it is terrible SNL type stuff, but they've done some good stuff too. If you take out the re-occuring characters and insane special guests (see Nicole Ritchie, Lou Diamond Phillips etc....) there are some laughs to be had. AS if I'm defending Mad Tv. What a world. Mad Magazine was pretty sweet when I was a kid. Looking back I am sure they were filled with racist, sexist inappropriate shit. Kind of brings a tear to the eye.

Nicole Sullivan is the best thing ever about MadTV, and when she was basically running things, the show was actually pretty smart. She has since left, so it's so unbelievably terrible, and in the old days it was terrible, but she was easily the strongest thing about it ever.
Anyway, she explained when she won that it was "not a rich charity" and that they really needed something to stay moving. I'm guessing that, like this board, people think it's "undignified" to donate to a poor charity that is trying to do good, but can't get the "poor kids" money or any other money coming from the rich liking to patting-themselves-on-their-back.
I just think it's f***ing hypocritical to complain about which charity someone wants to donate to. Face it that you don't know the full story.
