hey friends. I did a show tonight. Only 6 minutes.
tonights stand up will be available for listen at www.altcomzone.com in the audio area. It should be up around 1:30 AM, Dec. 1st. (EST)
I think you need a password to listen to it, so send me an IM to get the password.
If you don't have my AIM, send me a PM here.
A couple notes about the show:
Recorded At Yuk Yuks, Ottawa.
Audience of about 35 people.
There was a christmas tree on stage.
Dom Pare does my impression because he tells a joke in his set that is similar and we worked this out.
At the end I am fucking with the MC who was ripping off Mitch Hedberg all night.
Enjoy friends!

Why you gotta make me jump through hoops?
I stole that line from a circus dog. But what else is new?

that was another comedian "Dom Pare" he does an impression of a "bad accountant who might be gay" where he gets up on stage and says "These numbers don't add up... and I think I want to FUCK that guy" really well done.
and so I said to him "hey I wrote an impression, do you want to come up and do it" and he liked the idea so he came up.
He's a good guy. We'll probably do some more stuff together in the future.

Man, that was funny shit. Tough crowd at parts tho.
You definitely had one of the better incest jokes I've heard in years. If I had been drinking a cola, it would currently be splattered over my computer screen. Nice one-two punch on that one.
The vagina tat bit was perfect.
Its really hard for me to find anything that needed work. You're quite good. Slick performance skills, engaging attitude, snappy material. A better audience would have prolly helped tho.
Gold star for Punt!

Congratulations on being good.

ps thanks for the kind words.

Solid, my friend. You sound relaxed onstage. You also sound like you're having fun, which is awesome.
Strong writing on those jokes as well. I hope you find a way to incorporate the gingerbread man joke with your darker material. It was silly but fun.
Great job.

Can one of you in crowd give me the password so I don't have to wait around for punts reply? I have a feeling I won't care anymore by then.

No.
Anyway, I feel like I should say something, if for no other reason than that I don't want Punty to think I'm avoiding saying anything because he sucked. That was the most poorestly structureded sentence of ever, including this one. Anyway, I have no criticism, constructive or otherwise. I'm just saying that I have nothing to say, but I feel obligated to say that so you don't think you sucked. And you didn't suck, by the way. Did I mention that? You were even good.
But enough about Andy Mil-in-OCK-hiss. Seriously, enough about him. I mean, oh my god, he needs to be hung from his scrote until he fucking UNDERSTANDS...
Anyway, maybe I should re-listen so I can give my normal bastardly criticism to specific things. Anyway, good job, Teej. ...er PUNT! I'm sorry. I meant PUNT! Hey, all y'all look alike to me.

my ego for this shit is small. I know exactly where i fall in line in the stand up world.
i am an amateur comedian in canada with less than an hour of total stage time experience.
if this was a recording of me from my 4th year of touring, then I would be sad.
Right now I am still trying to figure out why the hell I am even attempting this.
I am debating if i should avoid political humor seeing as how i don't do enough research and I would just end up doing the same old "doesn't the world make you mad?" shit that everyone else does who doesn't do the research required.
there's a bad sentence.

Two questions.
Do you care about politics?
Can you craft a funny joke?
If you don't care about politics--then there's really no point in trying to force yourself into doing political humor. You risk polarizing an audience--and if you don't value that, why bother?
If you DO care about politics--well, that's part of who you are...and you should consider whether it fits your comedic perspective. You shouldn't siphon important parts of your personality for strategic reasons--you should use and build upon who you are...because if you feel it, then the audience will feel it.
Now--here's where the second question comes in. Unfortunately, a lot of people who care about politics think that simply stating their opinion or their observation and ending it with a "huh?" or a "am I right?" is the same as writing a funny joke about a political topic. IT HAS TO BE FUNNY. Doubly so because you now have to find a way to make the people who disagree with your particular political point of view laugh--it's not impossible, mind you...just harder.
If you CAN craft funny jokes--you're golden. If you're worried about the audience reaction, toss 'em a "get out of comedy jail free" card--something like "I don't know if you're going to agree with me, but...(insert joke here.) Oh, but maybe that's just me."
Once you get them laughing--once you get past their natural defenses--you can make those caveats more and more sarcastic.
Nobody wants to be preached to...everybody wants to laugh.
When you get back to Seattle, A_P, plan on doing a couple open mics... It'd be good to see how you translate your sense of humor on stage.

That was pretty damn good for how much actual stage time you've experienced, Your flow sounds nautural without been so rehearsed wich is what i like about alternative comdey these days.
I was thinking that a variation on the mothers vagina joke could be a tatto of your dick, that might be too hacky, your version is definitely funnier but if your playing to a more low brow audience...ahh forget it.
I like the acknowledgement of the sleep transition, very funny,
and lastly, i guess you can call me and me AllaH, ay ya ya ya ya!
