thats pretty totally lame. whoever made that should be ashamed.
This brings up a question actually: does david have some idiot following we're not aware of? this in combonation with people being tricked by the look alike makes me think so. how do these people get into him? is it all the CC airings of his stand up? what jokes of his do they actually get? WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE!?!?!

I think the doppelganger Cross is actually him; he's just making a convenient scapegoat for his insatiable rebound/Hollywood lust. Can't blame him, really. I'd most likely do the same. I'd probably get a "social disease" though.

You may feel special because you know who David Cross is, along with the other 1 million people. The only idiot following he has are people like you that think you're part of some COOL David Cross club in which you guys TRY to make jokes similar to Bob and David's style, while in fact you are just part of a trend instead of making up your own crap. People get into David's comedy because they like it. You don't have to be a certain breed of people to like comedy. I've been to the UCB, and I have to say it is quite sad to see all the new "alternative" comedians wasting our time. Most Alternative comedians have come up with a "alternative" formula and becomes almost too predictable at times. For example: One comedian I saw kept cursing out another comedian by the name of Dane Cook, and everytime he cursed out that comedian, he got a laugh. Then he would stop to drink water in the middle of cursing out that comedian - the drinking of the water also brought on more laughs from the audience. How many comedians have you seen use this crap?

What kind of David Cross fan gets their panties in a bind over a single mispelled word on a fucking internet message board?

See people. Unless you're breaking new ground with your comedy style, give up.
You're efforts are pointless because someone by the name of Cool has declared it so.
It doesn't matter if your jokes are funny or your performances are spot on. If Cool has seen someone else take a sardonic and/or cynical tone in their comedy stylings, anything you can bring is irrelevant.

I hate to say it, but this person is actually making a somewhat valid point. There is definitely a 'fashionable' vibe to so-called Alernative Comedy; like it's more of a scene than anything else. A great deal of young comedians sweat a very distinct style made famous by people like David Cross; but they lack good material. The comedy scene is a lot like the music scene these days. So much style over substance.
Maybe that's why David Cross dropped out of doing stand-up.... he was essentially the Messiah for legions of mediocre followers.
I just hate the term 'alternative comedy.' It's like labelling ice cream that has 3% less fat as 'alternative dessert.'
And I have a million more bad analogies where that one came from.

yeah okay, 1 million people know who David Cross is. But how many people know who Aziz Ansari is or Mike Bribiglia or Dan Mintz or Louis CK?
Not alot. Because of those 1 million folks only a handful are really into comedy. Those people are only into the popular alt-comedy.
People at this site like David Cross for 2 reasons.
1) he is funny
2) he has exposed us to new comedians
The mainstream 1 million only care about the funny factor and they don't search out for more.
David is an influence, but over the past year or so i have really moved away from David and into a whole new world.
If you ever go see an open mic night or an amateur night, whatever, watch those crowds. They are stupid and moronic to the maximus. And they represent the giant majority in society who have no clue who David Cross is.
So in a sense we are a minority. Whether or not we are "cool" for being this miority. Well that is a all relative. So it is pointless to debate.
I would like to note that when David first started stand up he wasn't the "genius" he is today.
This board is made up of alot of people who have only been doing stand up for a year or less. So you have to cut us slack for not having our own "persona" yet.

A wise man once told me that being cool is not what other people think about you, but just being yourself is what's cool. That man wsa none other than Joe "quartersmostly" Lastname and that once was none other than the other day or the day before. think about that 'Cool'. Now if you'll excuse me I have to go but before I do I want you to think about this : is being "Cool" really that cool if you're not cool? Hmm? Think about it.

That was totally taken out of context. I don't believe that shit. If that was true than Seth would be cool, and let me tell you, he isn't.
