Did anyone else watch the new George Carlin HBO special? I wasn't very impressed and I really like Carlin's stuff. I think he's starting to show his age. The majority of the show wasn't very funny at all but there were still some good laughs in it. What's wrong with his head? It looked all puffy and weird and he also looked like he was wasted. I thought it was a little disappointing. What do you guys think?

Ditto.
Maybe he needs to get back on drugs. At least weed. I'm assuming he's off that too since he made a reference to how long he's been "sober". Then again, some people don't "count" that. Ever see his anniversary special on HBO where Jon Stewart interviewed him? He said something about the fact that he'll write a ton of stuff, then the next day he'll take a hit off a joint, "Just ONE HIT! T's all I NEED now!", and then, "...it's PUNCH UP TIME!!" Maybe that's what was missing.
Ever see the Todd Glass edition of "Comedy Central Presents"? He said something about some of the stupid shit Carlin says sometimes. He qualified it by saying that he's great or a legend or whatever. But he quotes Carlin's bit where he says, "Get ON the PLANE!! Fuck YOU! I'M getting IN the plane!!". Todd replies, "Yeah, just shut the fuck up and get on the plane!!" Had to be there, I know. Anyway, there seemed to be a lot of "get on the plane" caliber stuff in this last "special".
I heard he's trying out new material for his next special already. Apparently he's just standing on stage saying "hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha". Yipes.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought he looked puffy too. He was like a grandpa chipmunk! And yeah, not very funny. It was poignant and insightful and clever even but no wit or humour really. It was lacking something. Some of the long stories went nowhere either. It was all build up and then it would trail off into something else like how I can't find a damn parking space outside the office anymore these days whats with all these tourists I sure could go for a blt anyone else?
