Just got back from Jew York City from the 3 day "Invite Them Up" Comedy Bonananzaa hosted by Bobby Tisdale and Eugene Boris Mirman.
Fucking incredible comedy.
First off, here's a name you must remember.
Aziz Ansari.
http://www.azizisbored.com/
The "kid" is only 22 i believe. He's already pretty well known but he's going to be the future of alt-comedy stand-up or whatever you want to call it.
Secondly, "God's Pottery"
http://godspottery.com/
They are a pair of actors who do an bit as a christian-folk rock band.
I know they didn't invent the idea, but they did it so well. Half way through their first song I glanced down at one of the guys and he was wearing these fucking sandals with big wooly socks and i just lost it. They are super nice guys and you will definitely want to see them if they come to your town.
They mentioned possible seattle or an England tour soon so keep your eyes open.
The highlight of the night was Comedy Snobbedy. That kid came all the way from Long Island for all three shows. Klaus and I love him and have decided he is better than Tommy, who DID NOT show up for any of the shows EVEN THOUGH WE CALLED HIM AND TOLD HIM TO COME.
Oh and Comedy Snob has a sweetie of a lady on his arm... and Tommy..... well.... you know.
Oh my god so much to talk about. I'll post more once I figure out what the hell I'm trying to say. I just got home and i need to sleep, but anyone who's interested in hearing stories about PUNT, Klaus and Potatojudge in New York City stay TUNED.
This was so unhelpful but I missed posting so I just had to do something.
Word.
I agree with the Aziz thing (http://azizisbored.com/videos/MIA%20Story.mov)
Good to have you back Punt.

Yeah, thanks Agent.
By the way, I'm hooking up Julie with my film crew Friday night for some super-duper Julie comedy action. It's gonna be flippin' sweet.

Man, I thought the intervention had finally gotten her to swear off amateur porn. I guess we'll just have to try harder next time. I mean, non-professional lighting just isn't flattering to her, uh, shapely figure.

This man is sad to report that math is not yet illegal in NYC, but, as a Eugene Mirman detractor has mentioned, Math is retarded.

Punt, did you get to feel Julie up? I hear that's all the rage. The bee's knees, as they say. I'm sure KK got his pinkie dirty. Why no particulars this time?

I want to wait until she gets back home before i start telling stories, that way she can tell you guys HER version.
I can't tell you if i touched her boobs or not,
but i can tell you that she licked her hand and rubbed it on my bare stomach. I think it was some sort of Texas Mating thing.. not sure.. I saw Bush doing it to his wife so who knows.
One quick story, I was telling a story about meeting a dude from Alexandria Bay in the Thousand Islands... and Julie said
The Thousand Islands isn't real! That's just the name of a salad dressing.
She was serious too. She thought I was making it up.
I'll post a blog with pictures tonight or tomorrow. Taint I think you're in my friends eh?

I need to come up with some sort of summary as well. It was an unbearable good time. Seriously. At this very moment I miss Punt and his girlfriend very much and have these pangs of depression that I haven't had in a long time. They are nicer than anyone I have met in all my years in New York. And SBJ is one of the most addictive people I've ever met. I probably won't see her before she leaves New York which depresses me.
Fuck dudes I am a big blubbering pussy.
I'll comment more later. It was a fucking blast.
Tommy is a lost cause, incidentally. 3 solid BUTMERs from all over the globe were a car-ride away and he didn't bother to show up

Hey, guys! I'm in an internet cafe thing!
Nick and Jeff are awesome. And so was Elaine. And Comedy Snobedy, who I don't think I ever caught his name. Someone post those pictures.
I will really do this when I have more time, when I get home. But I can't 'cause I'm not at home and stuff.
And, stuff.

i posted a blog for the trip.
Here's someone's review of the show:
The shows were fucking incredible. Of the 3 nights I think only about 4 performers had mediocre sets. Everyone else killed.
They were doing the "30 Seconds of Stand-Up" bit where a comedian only gets a 30 second spot.
Seth Herzog went up on the last night pretending to be a fan who won an internet contest to do the "30 Seconds of Stand Up". He went up as a drunk frat guy and just named off his slogans for his favorite years
"Do what you do, 2002"
"be what you be, 2003"
"Stayin' Alive, 2005"
He yelled "spring break" and lifted his shirt to reveal he had "Bobby" written across his chest. There are pictures linked from Aziz's site
www.flickr.com/photos/jenc/page2/
I'll do a quick run down of some of the highlights, without spoiling anything for the DVD/CD that they said should be out in October.
Slovin and Allen were reading from a script that Slovin had written called "Hey Old Man" and Allen was using it for an audition he had the next day. It was probably the show stealer of the opening night.
The third night was music heavy as Dmitri Martin performed, AD Miles did a song and God's Pottery perfomed too.
Dmitri Martin plays guitar and does small little one liners. It was pretty good. He talked about "being a matchmaker must be a bad job. People ask you "What do you do for a living" and you say "I'm a matchmaker" and they say "wow that must be so romantic" and you say "no you don't understand..."
David Cross - he didn't do stand up, he did an Improv piece with Jon Glaser. I won't say any more about what it was about because it's got the DC thing where the first time you hear it you'll fucking lose your shit (LITERALLY). But it was good. It had a few rough spots which has to be expected but it was DC so his personality alone killed (FIGURATIVELY).
Jessi Klien was good. She told a bunch of iPod jokes that really got a good laugh, somehow she tied it into to having AIDS... at the end she said sarcastically "wow, iPod humor, it's so fucking fantastic". She hated us for laughing at it. But it was funny.
Todd Barry spent his set trying to convince the audience he was a really nice guy. He pulled 5 people out of the crowd to help run through some "everyday scenario's" to show how nice he could be in these situations. Turns out he's not that nice.
David Wain did a song about putting a bagel in an old South American woman's cunt. It was probably the most disappointing set of the 3 nights.
Jon Benjamin and Jon Glazer did an incredible 2 man bit called the "Fo-getta-buddies"... It probably killed the most of anything all 3 days. They even had to deal with 2 retarded hecklers.
Glazer also did a good set on the first night talking about letters his dad wrote to ZZ TOP.
Eugene Mirman showed the Secret Agent video, and a newer video talking about picking up women. Tisdale really did all the hosting and Eugene came up and did a small set on each night. Both guys should be given a boat load of credit for putting together such an amazing line-up. Apparently they are still filming stuff this month at the Wed night shows of Invite Them Up so other stuff might make the CD's.

Punt gets the "Onstage Amateur" award for his gripping performance with Todd Barry. I was able to read my lines twice with Todd which was cool, but Punt had to read a line that was actually PART OF THE FUCING PUNCHLINE.

For once I get to say the punchline instead of living it.
People laughed when they were supposed to so I think it worked well.
