1) No, I have pop-up blockers installed (I'm using Firefox)
2) Cheesecake Factory is a restaurant that serves dinner and has really good cheescakes available for dessert.

You know what? I fucking hate the Dead. I don't hate the Dead just because it is cool to hate the Dead; I just really hate them and always have. People love to hate them just for the sake of hating them, but at least I've tried to like them. My best friend owns every CD of theirs as well as the entire Dick's Picks library. I've listened to 90% of their catalogue and it all makes me want to die

That's where I was going to take this thread but you beat me to it.
The subject of "the grateful dead" should be something only discussed privately between people who were there.
It should be the new "gay bar" taboo... where dead heads go and hang out...
"Hey Jim what did you do last night?"
"Oh I went to Blue Garcias"
"Blue Garcias?! Isn't that a grateful dead bar?"
"Oh yeah, I know.. I just went with my friend Craig. It was his first time he just came out, I'm not a fan. It's really not that bad. It's not like people are just coming up to you and talking about concerts and shit. But I didn't go in the bathroom at all."
I should just delete this but maybe ONE person will find this amusing.
I apologize to everyone else. I'll buy you all a beer.

Classic rock, and I consider the dead to be classic rock, is for washed-up old men. If your under 40 and listen to classic rock, it's like your trying to be an old man.

It's okay to like classic rock bands if you are under 40. It's not okay when asked what kind of music you like for your response to be "I'm really in to classic rock." It's just sad and pathetic when there are so many great bands that currently exist to be living in a past that you didn't exist in.

that actually sounds really fucking cool.
It's the same arguement we had about Johnny Carson and old comedians...
without Zep and the Stones etc.. we wouldn't have the bands we have today.
plus ALOT of that classic rock stuff is fucking awful.
Jerry Garcia appeared on an album by Paul Pena. I suggest if you want to hear some good classic blues/rock stuff from back in the day you go get Paul Pena's album.
Paul Pena.
He's black, and he's blind. And he's got more soul than a whole clone army of Ray Charles's. And he eats more pussy than Fats Domino and Charlie Sheen combined.
That's a whole dump truck of wet, juicy bush.

Zep and the stones occupy the same place for me as lil' Jon or Alicia Keys. If they come on the radio, I'm not gonna change the station. But that's more a testiment to my own laziness and less to any redeeming qualities in there music.
Z&S(as they will now be refered to) just bore me. There arrangments never get far outside of the standard blues that's been played forever. It's the first thing you learn when you pick up a guitar because it's easy and it makes you sound good even though it takes no effort whatsoever. There's nothing in there lyrics and songwriting that floors me,or makes me forget the fact that the song was copped from an 89-year-old black dude no one's heard of.

You're a fucking moron. Not liking Zep because they're too derivitive of blues is the most moronic thing I've ever heard. EVERYTHING is derived from the blues, you piece of shit. Why? Because the blues structure's simplicity MAKES THE MOST SENSE MUSICALLY.
I can't even continue. I am just too vexed at ME!!!'s generic "I wish I was a music theorist" bullshit argument
ME!!!!
04-28-2005, 10:28 AM
I don't hate Led Zepplin because there derivitive of blues, I hate it because it's every bit as shitty a derivitive of blues as Aerosmith or Van Halen but they get a free pass for no reason what so ever. It's boring, its insincere, and unrelatable for any human with an IQ above 100.
To relate to Led Zepplin you'd have to be a 49 year old motorcycle enthusiast, with a tatoo of a skull, who plays magic the gathering, has a pony-tail and leather vest, and is afraid of black people.
ME!!!!
04-28-2005, 10:35 AM
Bear in mind that these arguments don't apply to you if you don't actually own a Led Zepplin cd. If you're like I was and said you liked them despite the fact you've never really listened to more that a few songs I have nothing against you.
I understand the peer-pressure to say you like shitty music is hard and we all've had times when we said we like something we didn't. However, If you activly listen to classic rock, a la the stones and zep, you are a very very sad individual.
Now I'm gonna go play "Stairway to Heaven" at double speed and impress my 12 year old girlfriend.
Yeah i hate ME!!! also....

The kind of tool that was having trouble getting his if-else statements to work in Bison.
It doesn't help that I was telneting into the Linux lab at school as well and therefore couldn't use any GUI tools so I was forced to text-edit using PICO.

this will go into the category of pointless re-hash posts, but I fucking hate Aerosmith.
I guarentee you on the day you die, and you're doomed to hell, Satan-himself will appear with an old school ghetto blaster playing "Love in an Elevator" by Aerosmith.
Your skin will catch fire and turn itself inside out.
your penis will turn to ice and melt right off.
a dog with a razor for a boner will fuck you right in the eye socket while your mother does jello shots of massive mound of Adolf Hitler's shit.
And the whole time you 'll be hearing that douche bag Stephen Tyler belting out "Living it up while i'm going down"
(fyi When Hitler arrived in Hell he was told to just "sit in the corner and make a pile of poo. Don't stop until you hit the ceiling" said the Devil. Hitler thought he was getting off easy, but there' no ceiling in hell)

I know , they keep saying "the Dead are Gay hail Satan" anyhoo
My parents were hippies, i know, dont hate me. they lived in colorado until my mom got pregnant with me and they moved back to Michigan a month before I was born. Before they moved my mom and dad and some friends went to see the Dead at Redrocks and they were at the sho from noon until midnight. My mom was 7 months pregnant with me at the time. I use this story to defend my "chronic" drug problem and the pictures of them with their home grown gardens helps me get a lot of leeway, fail out of collge and waist 4 grand kinda leeway. I mean come on, outside all day at a dead show and my mom was bound to inhale something that would give me a taste for the green.

cheap trick is without a doubt the gayest entity ever.
van halen and aerosmith are both horrific symbols of the bad taste and vacuous minds of 1980's high school educated lower-middle class white males who liked to talk about intake and exhaust manifold modifications to their corny american cars while they smoked cigarettes and grew hair with wild abandon.
i have a lot of respect for zeppelin's influence, but i don't really like them that much, just personal taste.
rolling stones early 70's (exile on main street, sticky fingers, goat's head soup) is flat out kick ass.
