I actually thought it was pretty good. I never liked the BBC show so it's kind of strange. Usually, American versions of BBC shows suck very badly. I don't like Ricky Gervais so Steve Correll is much better, in my opinion. The timing and editing is very good, although I hate that damned shakey-cam bullshit. I actually laughed out loud a few times which is rare indeed for a network show. Hopefully it will just get better.

I thought it was fairly good, but it's not near as good as the Office. I hate to be thought of as a blasphemer, but I sometimes think The Office is funnier than any twelve episodes of Mr. Show. I think Steve Carrell did a pretty good job, but the Tim and Gareth replacements just seem wrong.

If you're a fan of the UK version like I am (or even mildly familiar with the episodes), I can't imagine how you could have possibly thought this was funny. It had the exact same characters, the same storylines, and even some of the same scenes (word for word). It's not "an American version" of the original but an American replica of the original.
I like Steve Carrell, but he can't be as serious as Gervais can be (who I love, by the way), and all of the other characters pale in comparison to the original, especially the new "Dawn".

I'm a big fan of British comedy but The Office never clicked with me. I'm not sure why. I think the original shows timing didn't work for me. There was funny material in it but it never made me laugh. Also, like I said before Ricky Gervais just sucks.

Steve Carrell could never make anything as uncomfortable as Ricky Gervais managed to. Or anywhere near as funny. I'd rather watch this version of The Office than any other current network sitcom besides Arrested Development and Rodney.

I can't possibly imagine The (UK) Office being any better than it was. And I'm only familiar with Gervais in The Office. I hope Extras is just as good as The Office.

Carrell won't be able to pull it off.

They're obviously going to stray pretty far from the original storylines in the future because NBC is hoping for a lot more than a 12 episode run. And I'm glad they're doing that, so it won't be just like watching a lackluster copy of the original. I think Carrell could be pretty funny if they let him do his own thing and not force him to do an impression of Gervais.
I feel like the new Tim, Dawn, and Lee are way more attractive than the originals.

This first episode is a copy of the episode from the UK version. Starting next week, it's all original episodes. I know it's not hip or cool, but I laughed and was entertained by this show.

I thought it was funny. If I was a fan of the original BBC show, I'm sure I wouldn't be very excited about it either. Remember the lousy US versions of Coupling and Fawlty Towers? They were horrible. I think this show has potential to be a somewhat humorous network show and that's a very rare thing nowadays. I thought Carell was funny and I've always enjoyed his performances. Plus, for a 'six degrees of' kind of thing, the girl who plays Pam was in 'Melvin Goes to Dinner'. She's also kind of sexy in a Maura Tierney kind of way.

i was trying to place Pam during the whole episode, thanks for coming through! i also liked this version and i always liked the uk version but I'm not a superfan (i've only seen a few episodes). i thought Steve Carrell was great... not nearly as creepy but still effective. i was wondering if he was impersonating Gervais but I think he was just doing the character as he was written. i mean how else could he play the guy? i actually enjoyed the use of the original script the next episodes should be interesting.

Man, they should name the show The Orifice because Steve Carrell is such an asshole! AM I RIGHT?!?!?
