the article states that :
"Two weeks ago, professional actor-comic-agitatant David Cross reportedly appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and mentioned that his Fox sitcom, the critically-adored-but-virtually-unwatched Arrested Development, had stopped production for the season. He then added that he hoped it would be replaced by a new Fox reality show, something like, “America’s Cutest Retards.”"
--- "virtually-unwatched" ???
he makes it sound like they are getting an audience of a few hundred people. Aren't the ratings still in the multi-millions?
It's a joke that Fox can't dedicate half an hour every week to this show. It's a fucking billion dollar company.
I'd like a minimum of 3 seasons.
They should give Gob a spin off series were he moves to NY to become a full time magician. And Tobias can be his wacky roommate who wants to become an actor! And then Phoebe and Rachel can move in next door and ratings will sky rocket.
6 million isn't a lot of people. I've fit more into my car.

I don't think there's much hope at this point...
Anyone have opinions on American Dad? I missed it myself, but everyone I've spoken to has called it just another half-hour of Family Guy, and not a suitable replacement or nearly as funny/entertaining. Not a big Family Guy fan myself.

I think the problem might be that Arrested Development has fewer people watching this season, despite the accolades.

i saw the episode after the superbowl... haven't seen it since. It was really bad. It was a poor imitation of Family Guy. They really didn't even try to hide that.
It honestly felt like they had written the script for Family Guy, realized it was weak and didn't use it... so they decided to use it for this show.
I assumed they would have 2 sons or 2 daughters or a non-generic cartoon house... something to make it different... but it was all the same.
Arrested Development is still better than Family Guy and Family Guy is better than New Simpsons... and New Simpsons is better than American Dad.
Shit I'm posting too much today.

Where does the old simpsons fit in. Man that's an awkward sentence.
The thing is, American Dad was created by Seth Mcfarlane after family guy was cancelled, which is why they're so alike. He basically made a carbon copy in an attempt to keep doing the show he prided himself on.
Then Family Guy was brought back, so he just marketed American Dad as a "Political Family Guy". Can't blame the guy, not many people get the chance he has.

Fox says the want to stick with AD, but they're not gonna do anything crazy like PROMOTE the show so people will watch it.

If they ran a few marathon weekends of the show and had re-runs at 2 am every thursday/friday they'd probably be doing much better.
I think everyone agrees the key to get new viewers is helping them catch up with what's happened so far.
it's funny that we are asking FOX to be the leader in cutting edge tv sitcoms. or whatever you want to call AD.

I hear John Stamos is starting a sitcom similar to Arrested Development on ABC. Perhaps we should all become rabid fans of it.
The late night showings would do wonders, but the local affiliates make too much from infomercials to ever do that.

I woke up this morning with the sun down shining in... I found my mind in a brown paper back but then... I tripped on a cloud and fell 8 miles high...I tore my mind on a jagged sky...I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in...
