First, Mariah Carey informed friends and fans that they must now call her Mimi. Then Jennifer Lopez tried to ditch her J.Lo moniker. Now, Britney Spears is undertaking a name change.

The pop star told MTV's Total Request Live that she'd like to be referred to by her alter-ego, Mona Lisa.

Britney adopted the Mona Lisa nickname for the credits of her new self-directed music video, "Do Something."

Says Britney: "I kinda think she's like my alter-ego. Whenever I feel like being mean or fussing to get stuff right it's kind of easier to be called Mona Lisa instead of Britney."

Meanwhile, the singer just got a new tattoo in tribute to the Kabbalah religion. Britney, who became involved in the mystical faith after being introduced to it by close friend Madonna, revealed that she has had a Hebrew symbol inscribed onto the back of her neck.

The pop star says the religious symbol represents "the power of healing" to followers of the faith, which is an ancient off-shoot of Judaism.

She revealed that the new image was just one of two new tattoos she got during a romantic trip to a tattoo parlour with second husband, Kevin Federline.

She said: "I have pink dice on my left wrist. It's something me and my husband we did together. He has blue dice, I have pink dice."
