Not much in the way of strict comedy- though a very funny MPAA scene regarding women's "mammararies," but a wonderful flick all around.

I expect Cate Blanchette to get an Oscar nod for Best Supporting Actress, a Best Actor Nod for Leo, and outside shots for John C Reilly, Alan Alda and Alec Baldwin for Best Supporting Actor. This could be the year for Scorese to get his best director Oscar, sort of a life accomplishment thing as the movie is very well directed.

Still- I would've liked to see what David Cross could have brought to the role of Howard Hughes. ;)

BEST ACTRESS:

Who WILL Win: Nicole Kidman, (movie #1)

Who SHOULD Win: Nicole Kidman, (movie #2)

Who SHOULD be Nominated, but won't be: Nicole Kidman, (movie #3)

BEST SCREENPLAY:

Who WILL Win: Charlie Kaufman, Oscar Nominee

Who SHOULD Win: Soffia Coppola, I'm a Stupid Bitch

Who SHOULD be Nominated, but won't be: Bob Odenkirk, David Cross, Brian Posehn, Hooray for America

Best Documentary:

Bush Fucked Up! (dir: some asshole with a camera)

Best Visual Effects:

Escape from Thailand (for the mesmerizing tsunami CGI)

I can't believe I spent so much time on this post just to prove a point: the Oscars are a joke, dude!

I did like The Aviator, though... but if you really wanna see great work, check out any of Scorsese's pre-Cape Fear films.
