"Black" Comedy

I haven't watched television in a while (note I didn't call it TV, becasue TV is a nickname, and nicknames are for friends, and television is NOT my friend). Hrmm, anyway, but when I did watch it regularly I grew very tired of what I suppose we'll call "Black Comedy". Anyone who stays up late and watches tons of stand up shows and crap knows what I'm talking about. I can't even really give you an excellent example, but I think ya'll know what I mean.

My question is to anyone who still watches this type of thing. Has poking fun at the exaggerated characteristics of white people gotten old yet? Or does that still pass for funny?


EDIT: I'll assume that the lack of response is from lack of interest in the subject, not that anyone is afraid to say anything.

No, it's still goes on. That's the bread and butter of generic black comedians. Just like generic white comedians still do the same stupid bits that keep their severly retarded audiences laughing...

"Airplane food is terrible isn't it?"

"Men and women are different!"


So on and so forth, then they juggle or do ventriliquism or stupid shit like that.

Black comedians do the same thing, just different material.

"White men have small penises!"

"Why do white people walk like they have a stick up their asses?"

Then end with some "your momma" jokes. Result... comedy GOLD.

The best of them rise above the crapness of genres like that though. Like Chris Rock's little bit that was used in "Bowling for Columbine", about bullet control.

Saying that, those Def Comedy Jam videos look dreadful. Just like the average standup show composed mostly of white people is going to suck too. Maybe it's just the people they pick for the "black" standup shows are those that conform to the stereotype, as it's what the TV people think people want.

But, Yeah every black comic tells the same fucking joke and they come on right after the last guy. Did the crowd forget already? “Oh the joke about how black guys walk cooler than us squares (whites)” “oh hears the one about the racist cops” and they’re still laughing! Ok, basically, from what i have observed, the "typical" black comedian's comedy routine will consist of the following:

- money
- sex
- a few white jokes
- more on sex
- their "bling bling"
- fine women
- and sex

gee, sounds a lot like their rap videos too.

Nothing original.

As long as they don't mention any of the above in a distasteful fashion, I would watch, but I won't be holding my breath for that to happen.

the problem is when white comics tell racial jokes they make fun of themselves....these things should be equal. the only guy who was funny making funb of white people was richard pryor...rock and chapelle are good b/c theyll make fun of their culture too. anyways, gringo comics have this thing now where they jusy have to try to offend the hell outta people (drugs, prostitutes, abortion, etc.) b/c its not funny to analyze every little stupid thing anymore seinfeld style. the only good comics now are stream of conciousness comedy. im no racist, but i thinkcomedy needs to go back to the old style, or if your gonna be a raving lunatic, dont try to be sam kinisondo your own thing. heres a couple jokes that would never fly:

why does MLK get a better holiday and george washinton and lincoln combined? shouldnt lincoln be the blacks hero? he got them outta the fields, MLK got them to the watrer fountain... i mean, im all for holidays, but i think lincoln deserves his own day, and washingtons day should be 420 (april 20), you know my boy was blazin that shit in mount vernon

the cool thing about all the immigrants in the new millenium is white people can turn the race around on everyone. some black dude tried to mug me the other day,and i explained to him HE was just mugging me cuz i was white,i just need a rock dude, its not like im tryin to make strange fruit outta you

I think the sad truth is that about 99% of comics (white or black or miscellaneous) are lame. Unfortunately, many of these lame comics are successful enough to be on TV. At the end of the day, Rock, Murphy, Pryor (to name a few) are just great comedians and they can do black vs. white comedy successfully. They're just not as obsessive about the subject as some shitty black comics are. Shitty comics go for cheap laughs (white guys can't dance; airline food; etc) and a large proportion of the kind of people that go to comedy clubs eat that shit up. 100 years from now, you'll be able to walk into any comedy club and hear some hack blab on about how his wife is a bitch when she's on the rag and a couple of fat assholes in the crowd will be laughing themselves hoarse. Remember. Andrew "Dice" Clay was the biggest standup act in the North America for a couple of years.

Honestly, the only black comic that can hold my attention these days is Dave Chapelle. I've never really been into all that Kings Of Komedy bullshit with those dumbfucks like Eddie Griffin that spout 600 different variations of the same joke and call it an act.

50% of these crappy comics just lack creativity, they are hopeless and survive because mass audiences enjoy crappy comedy (see Just For Laughs, Montreal).

The other 50%, of pro-comedians that do crappy material: I GUARENTEE that they are more talented than what you see. If you talked to this guys (and girls) off-stage they would make you laugh for sure. But when they get up on stage and they try new material that is "off the cuff" the crowd doesn't get it. Or they don't want to get it. They come up with smart jokes with sharp delivery and receive no reaction. So they think "why bother, these people don't want me to stop talking about chinese food and my neighbour's cat".

The parallels to the music industry are true. Radio teaches kids what kind of music they like. Which turns out to be generic rap, pop, because that is what is the easiest to do. It doesn't take artistic talent. You don't need art for music.. no, it's a business. Mainstream comedy is the same as mainstream music. Every once in a while you'll get some true artist who floats to the top. Like Bob, David, Jay, Sarah etc.... oh and Jay-Z. That motherfucker is for real. (in this context "real" means "not real")

I've always thought of pop music as the commercial that advertises itself. I guess that's true with a lot of comedy too.

I do stand up comedy for the Ku Klux Klan. I have a HILARIOUS "white people walk like this, black people walk like that" bit that KILLS (not literally, lol. But seriously we only kill the nigras on the 2nd and 4th Sundays and it's always a somber event.)

I was watching Premium Blend last night and some chick had a nitch comedy routine about how much it sucks to be a tall chick, and all her jokes were about being tall. Example:

"I hate when people think the only thing I want in a man is being tall, they're all like, He's 6-2 he is for you."

The crowd found that hilarious. At that point I turned off the tv and mastrabated, thinking about how great it would be if she had died in a car crash on the way home.
