i want to make a list of Mr. Show references and rip-offs (JUST LIKE THE TITLE!). here are some i can think of right now:
References -
Dead Like Me- i know that this has been brought up before, but there was an episode with a character named "Ronnie Dobbs". Normally i would think that this was just a weird coincedence, but mandy patinkin is one of the stars, and he played himself playing ronnie in RRR.
Rip-Offs
MadTV- i saw an episode (Nothing else was on. i swear!) they had a mafia sketch, and at the end of it it turned out it was all a watch commercial, then it zoomed out and reveiled it was on a screen in a movie theater. in the theater some hacky actors were dressed up like DeNiro and Pesci. they said they hated it, they stood up and an exucutive that was with them goes "now who wants ice cream?!?!?!"

Yea, that episode of DLM really freaked me out. I was, like, "Huh?"
Also, that didn't happen on MadTV. You're a fucking liar!!!!
I'm pretty sure that the Blink 182 song about suicide, that was called, 'Adam's Song' is a reference. And then I think they mention that in commentary. I fucking new it.
The Strokes' tour was the Wykyd Sceptre tour, right?
I'll think of good ones later.

How about MadTVs "Sopranos on PAXtv" edited for content, a blatant rip off of "Pallies".
It's such a funny idea it still cracks me up anyway, but I'm a moron.

Well, Dino did write for MADtv at one time, so it is possible...

it was a newer episode. why would dino make a shitty rip off of a show he used to work on anyways?

Why do I still tell jokes that I wrote in the 8th grade (or "grade 8" for our Canadian readers)?

Earlier today I was watching The New KKK sketch and my brother told me he saw Mad TV do a sketch a lot like it.

i havent seen that sketch, but from what i've heard it was a patton sketch that the producers changed.
I was watching this film called 'Cat in the Hat' the other day and I noticed that there was a blatent ripoff of the 'superpan' sketch in it.
God's honest truth I swear.

On Reno 911, cops responded to a call of a man making a nuisance of himself in a bar. He had some powder under his nose, and they asked him about it, and he said he it was his mother's birthday and he was making her a cake.

Yeah, the Reno thing was either a coincidence, or an homage.
And wasn't there some story awhile back about CNN, or some other news network doing a blatant ripoff of Pit Pat?
