Yeah, the Parnell thing. He's extremely talented, and often misused, sadly. When they have him rapping, it's just embarrassing. Even though technically he can kinda do it, it's still sad. And they've had him do this "Merv the Perv" character a few times that seems better suited to a Rodney Dangerfield type. I actually had an idea like that a while back, and I was disappointed to see that not only did SNL use my exact idea (a lewd jerk at a sexual harassment seminar) but they did it POORLY. (Not that I'm accusing them of plagiarism, since I only told maybe one person about it, and he was no one.) We had a harassment thing at work and I pictured someone like Dangerfield going in there with a girl on each arm and disgusting everyone. "Hey, I think I need a TUTOR!" Then he "honks" some chicks titties... you get the idea. But they BOTCHED it! Pissed me right off.

Anyway, Parnell does good impressions and is a good all around cast member. Only guy ever not to be brought back when they started up a new season, only to admit they made a mistake half way through the season and let him come back. That said, it may be time for him to go now. That show is in desperate need of some new blood. I don't even think anyone on there now is BAD. It's just, for whatever reason, not working. Things need to get shaken up a bit

I'm enjoying Amy on there more and more. The character of the 10 year old girl, and her step-dad Rick, usually cracks me up. And I enjoy the Weekend Update more.

Bah. I mean, she's good at it... It's just so... Gilda! I thought it was better, and more unique, when she was hanging out with The Unibomber on UCB. I've gotta get on Comedy Central's asses about those DVDs, as suggested by some anonymous, unregistered user.

There again, I know a lot of people didn't like Fallon on there, (and granted, that team PAILED in comparison to Norm!) but there was a certain dynamic there then that's missing now, I think. But, I've talked about that plenty before, so I'll stop there.


I was just thinking about Farley and how it's REALLY against all odds that they could cast someone that fat. If you're that physically limited in the type of characters you can visually pull off, then how can they use you? If you're skinny, they can always put you in a fat suit. I think, generally, they want people who can do more variety. The ultimate example of that, I think, is Maya Rudolph. I refer to her as their racial wild card, because she can play ANY ethnicity quite convincingly without really needing to resort to lots of makeup or prosthetics. That's not to say she's not talented. She IS. But someone who looks like Farley has to be bringing something really special to the table to even be considered for the show. The thing is, he was so good, you don't even think about all that.

I agree that that Amy character is very Gilda like, and that she played that little girl better on UCB and on Conan as Andy's sister, but it's still funny.

Everyone ragged on the Fey/Fallon Weekend Update, but it was so much better than Colin Quinn. Norm's the best, yes.

I think I'm just restating everything Steve said in worse words. FUck you.

i saw the above mentioned skit where she wants to get her ear pierced... it was fucking awful.... like seriously, i could see it playing as a small theatre skit.... but as an SNL 7 minute joke it was awful.
