Los Angeles' For The Kids take on San Francisco's Kasper Hauser in a comedy death match on December 10th... and if I have any credibility at all here, I am comfortable letting it all ride on Kasper Hauser, who are really, truly, wonderful and brilliant.
Friday, December 10th
LA Sketch Comedy Blow-nanza
with Kasper Hauser
and Aspen/HBO veterans: For the Kids
The Fake Gallery
Friday, December 10th; 8 p.m.
4319 Melrose Avenue
Los Angeles, CA 90029
(323) 661-0786
$10.
KH are absolutely brilliant, but because they have busy real lives (doctor, lawyer, professor, improv school director), they don't get out on tour much. You seriously owe it to yourself to see these guys.... they are without a doubt the best thing in the San Francisco comedy scene. Think Python, American, with less sillyness and brilliant characters.
YOU OWE IT TO YOURSELF. SERIOUSLY. GO. I am not in Kasper Hauser, but they are really really wonderful.

No one here lives in California you jerk! Stop teasing us. It's a shame I don't care for the California attitude at all, because it seems to have the best scenes for everything. Comedy, music, prostitution, drugs. Goddammit.
I live in Cali but I probably won't be able to see it.
I don't have a car and nobody wants to gives me a ride to a comedy club unless they know and like who's performing or unless I beg.
And, since next week is finals week, I'm saving all my begging powers for the professors.

actually, a few people here live in california. not all of them are regular posters, but you have to remember how many people remain in the shadows and just read the posts.

Well, if any of these shadows go to the show, how about posting a quickie review right here....
don't be shy... this is a good way to introduce yourself...

Hi there! I am Tara and I post here and there on butm... I live in AZ and although I am not attending the aforementioned show, I do venture over to California on occasion to check out some shows... So perhaps we can get together for some happenings in the future? That would be sweet. What do you think? Do you ever go to the M Bar shows? I want to check it out sometime or another.
I am going to see Todd Glass this weekend at the Tempe Improv... Is anyone going to see him? Let me know.

the M Bar has one or two great shows every week. And no trip to LA should miss the opportunity to visit the Museum of Jurassic Technology.
That said... I live in San Francisco.

Kasper Hauser? As in the character from Werner Herzog's film "The Enigma of Kasper Hauser"?

and if you don't believe me, here's an older Kasper Hauser sketch produced for radio by yours truly:

i liked that sketch but i would have made it twist and have the phone ring and its someone from the future telling them about something thats going to happen
either that or the last guy is telling the people in the 14th century stuff, but hes actually predicting the future, shit like in 2014 a major earthquake will destroy the eastern seaboard, the ozone layer is not depleting from pollution its actually being depletted by the governments of canada and the netherlands as a means of reshapping the climate and geography of their countries to make them more hospitable, the cure for cancer is yada yada
and so forth
but thats just me

if you guys see my friend Nick Adams on the bill anywhere, he's worth a flier, and he's a really sweet guy. He's based in Scottsdale, I think, but I'm sure the standup community in Arizona ain't huge.

Why are you moving to AZ? It's a sweltering shithole filled with weird genetically mutated crytal meth addicts? I'd rather take up residence in the 7th level of Hell. It's much nicer there. And yes, I have been to AZ and I'm speaking from experience.

Better than San Antonio, Texas.
For. Sure.

I find that hard to believe. The grass is not always greener on the other side. Oh wait, AZ doesn't have any grass. The scorched earth is not always browner...never mind.

I was kind of afraid at first too, but I have come to like Arizona in a weird way. When I first arrived from Connecticut it was like moving to Mars- but now we have an agreement. Plus it's warm. Really warm.
