good news America! Bob (Odenkirk) is directing a new movie based on the book of the same name!
THE BOOK (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0671027638/103-2294360-2041465?v=glance)
Does anyone know anything else about it? Given the name I can't imagine it will get a wide release, but neither did Melvin and hey that was neat huh?

yea, i came across this on the imdb a few months ago. it'll be interesting to see what bob can do with a more conventional type of story, as opposed to Melvin's (which i think is really good, too).
i do think he should change the title, though.

what do you want to know stabby!? Do you want to know that Bob Odenkurt has cast Ian McGregor to play the part of gay entrupenuer Guy McCloud? Or do you want to know that this movie was made on a budget of only $100,000 in a remote village in Mexico? Well i can tell you both things with 100% assurance that they are both TRUE!

I just read that book description, thanks. I guess Droopy might be getting a movie, then?
All I remember is that the book was released by MTV and they had commercials about it on the channel itself.
So if they can promote the book, I think they can promote the movie. They just have to say it like they said in the commercial: "The F(bleep)k up"*

I'm pretty sure the MPAA has a rule about no films having swear words in the title, so he'd either have to:
1) Change the name to something different
2) Alter it slightly i.e. The F Up
3) Release it unrated thereby bypassing the MPAA
Is Bob a good director?
I've never seen Melvin's but is there anything Mr. Show related that I could see his direction in?

Isn't Melvin Mr. Show related since it was DIRECTED BY BOB ODENKIRK and had cameos by D Cross and BJ?
