Even though I think Will Ferrell can be really funny (the cowbell sketch is proof), I've heard that Anchorman was pretty lousy.
Is the movie worth watching for diehard Mr. Show fans just to see the cameos by such luminaries as Jay "my sexual orientation has been the subject of much debate" Johnston and The Bob?
I seriously doubt I'd buy the DVD (unless it was really good, but I've heard "not so good"), but I might consider renting...

Perhaps the weed is taking it's toll, but I don't recall lil' Bobby O. being in the movie. And I think I would've remembered that seeing as how I'm obsessed with his ass an' all!
I love Will. I liked the movie. He made me laugh in it. So did Steve Carell. And that's my two cents.

I think anchorman is great, it's just completely rediculous and steve carell is absolutely fabulous as brick tamland. It's not some bullshit mainstream comedy it's just generally fun ( if that means anything to anyone). the scene that parodies gang's of new york is dynomite, no lie.
also from what i've read about the dvd it has mondo extra features, which should be pretty decent. bob isn't it but paul, jay, and jerry are. not to mention fred willard who i think is great. jud apatow's generally good, relying primarily on his ben stiller show connection and freaks and geeks.
it readlly depends on what your sense of humour is but if you like the stuff the will ferrell is usually about than i can't imagine you thinking this is an abomination to comedy.
it's like a whole movie ala ferrell's goulet impression.
"when in rome."

This movie is really funny because it is completely ridiculous:
I could quote the movie, but it wouldn't be funny. Just watch it.

Ok...I have to say, and I may get picked on but I dotn care, I laughed harder in the theater for that movie than I ever have for any other movie in my life...Im not saying its the funniest movie ever, but I had the most fun there. It is silly and rediculous and if you love ferrell and Vince Vaughn and all the movies that seem to stem from that group (Old School, Dodge Ball, Starsky and Hutch...etc) then it is awsome and go see it now. I love everyone one in it. I will be buying it along with Dodgeball and Elf in the next few months!!!!

I refuse to believe you're 35.
That being said, I too laughed really hard when I saw Anchorman. It's "fun."
I don't know why eight people have used the word "ridiculous" to describe it though.
