I thought I'd throw this up here, in case any of the folks here who listen might like to make a contribution.

First of all: to pledge... email me (splangy@splangy.com) your full name, phone number, pledge level, and desired gifts. I'll call you back (most likely on Thursday) to complete the transaction.

Like almost all of KZSC, we run The Sound Of Young America on a volunteer basis. We’re glad to provide this service to Santa Cruz and the rest of the world over the internet.

That said, none of this comes for free, and due to state budget cuts, KZSC is more dependent on listeners than ever before.

But you can help. And if you scratch our backs, we’ve gotten a lot of folks to agree to scratch yours.

So… if you pledge to support KZSC and The Sound of Young America by emailing, what can you get?

All pledgers will get The Sound of Young America Maximum Fun pack…
*Maximum Fun Club membership Card
*Maximum Fun Club New Sincerity Pin
*A Copy of The Sound of Young America’s 10,000th Episode

I want a window cling. I spell better than TJ, so I think I derserve it more. Plus I've got BOOBS.

What a bizarre exchange it was. (http://www.splangy.com/realaudio/bigtime.ram)

It cut off mid "moustache" and I wanted to hear the end of that sentence, and that lady's response to it.

In Houston there's a billboard that says, "STEVE HARVEY KEEPS IT REAL..." and then, I swear, like, fifteen miles down the highway, "REAL FUNNY!"

but they're placed so far apart that it makes no sense, and I see it and go, "Huh? What? Oh, ...right. The billboard, from thirty minutes ago. Yea."

YoungAmerican
11-08-2004, 04:29 PM
that was actually the end. The only thing it's missing is me segueing.

and if I got that shit to TJ (which I think I did), you can have a window cling. Email me and I'll give you an address for an SASE.

is that Rip Torn?

tjamick
11-08-2004, 06:11 PM
it's L. Ron Hubbard, founder of scientology and all around good guy.

YoungAmerican
11-08-2004, 08:14 PM
It's too bad Rip Torn wasn't the founder of Scientology. That would be awesome.

I'd totally be into dianetics then!

Damnit, so when you asked if that was Rip Torn I began to make a joke about throwing confetti around, but then realized that was Rip Taylor. I think someone else mentioned how they always get the two confused.

I never said that, but until I read your post I still thought we were talking about the confetti guy.

I'm Totally lost.
Should I be glad I don't know who the fuck you guys are talking about?

Pali

I know who they're talking about!

I live right by Tottenham Court Road, home to one of the main Scientology centres in London. I actually went in there once, it was quite funny watching the video that they loop in the foyer. It had a series of people saying things like 'before I discovered scientology I was always leaving things at work, and forgetting important lunch meetings!' They were trying to sell it like it was a fucking pill. Oh well.

And Rip Torn is that fat actor with the beard I think.

I think he was in the movie Jackass, at the end, throwing confetti?

Maybe that was another movie... but I think it was Jackass.

I recommend EVERYONE makes a pledge to the Sound of Young America..

You can get free stuff with your donation. So it's not really free.

Rumour has it I might be getting the Patton CD...

Jealous mcuh?

That's right I said mcuh

NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's Rip TAYLOR.

See, in addition to being a shitty drummer, you also have one arms. It wouldn't matter if you had one arm, two arms, no arms - if your arms were made out of drumsticks and your head was a fucking drum.

tjamick

rip torn was the boss guy in men in black, and he played the boss guy in men in black 2

No, you're thinking of Lif Tyler, the drummer from Aerosmith.

Rip Taylor was the guy from the Larry Sanders show. He used to throw confetti at the end of each episode and he had that catch phrase "You're a jackass!"

Call 831-459-2811 to pledge... best to pledge between five and six PM pacific, but any time is OK,really, tell them you're pledging for TSOYA, and I said you could have any CD you want. And thanks!

YoungAmerican

thanks to TJ and Nick for pledging... we had a really great pledge day. If we're still pledging next week (we stop if we meet our goal, and this year's goal is pretty modest), I'll have some sweet stuff from thegag.com and some Iron Giant DVDs to keep things interesting.

tjamick
11-12-2004, 01:44 AM
how much did you guys wind up getting?

YoungAmerican
11-12-2004, 01:50 AM
Just over $400, which is pretty darn great for a station our size and a one hour time slot. On a pro-rated basis, that's as good as any show on the station, including the old shows for old people that have been on a long time.
