With shooting slated to begin on October 13th, 20th Century Fox has acquired a majority of the international territory rights to Hyde Park Entertainment's "Shopgirl", based on a novella by ex-Wild and Crazy Guy, Steve Martin. Martin and Claire Danes (My So Called Life) star in the pic, with Jason Schwartzman (Rushmore) recently inking to co-star.
The story centers on a down-and-out girl (Danes) who makes a living selling gloves and other accessories at a Neiman Marcus. With her job having her feeling useless and having no luck with romantic relationships, her life takes an upswing when a rich, older, divorced man (Martin) walks into her world. Martin adapted the screenplay from his novella.
