The NBC affiliate owned by the Mormon church has deemed the new sitcom "Coupling" unsuitable for Utah viewers. KSL-TV, Utah's largest station, will join another station owned by the University of Notre Dame, in refusing to air "Coupling" because of the show's sex jokes.

"We strongly feel that the premiere episode, which was made available for affiliates to preview, is little more than a succession of crude sex jokes, which, when taken in total, simply push the envelope well beyond the boundaries of our community's standards," said Jim Behling, president and general manager for WNDU.

"Coupling" was conceived by the British Broadcasting Corp. as a frank and funny account of love and lust among a group of thirty-somethings. NBC bought the show and is remaking it with American actors.
