Which show was funnier?

when was KITH on NBC?

It wasn't. It was on CBS for a while. Those weren't the most memorable episodes. I thought it only ran for a year on CBS, but I just saw a website that said it ran longer than that. I find that hard to believe, but I can't prove otherwise. I think "The State" was supposed to have run on CBS around the same time, but they just ran one holiday special and quickly lost interest.

This is a tough call between Mr. S & KitH, if we get to overlook the shitty, shitty network shitty shit that The Kids did. Too close to call. Stiller had moments of brilliance, but it just didn't have the edginess of the others. It's kinda like, imagine if "Mad TV" wasn't utter shit. That's "The B.S. Show". And I think I'm in the minority on this, but I think "Strangers" got HORRIBLE in the second season. It just altogether stopped working. I'm really curious to see "Exit 57"! I missed it, somehow. I'd like to see what those people were capable of when not restricted by a thin (albeit very FUNNY) premise and limited to a single character.

I think we're overdue for another high-quality sketch comedy show. Has anyone even TRIED since "Upright Citizens Brigade"?

I vote for Tenacious D's HBO show!

Okay how about this....

Brain Candy ?

Run Ronnie Run ?

or

Any Ben Stiller movie ?

which would you say is the best?

I don't think you can compare the shows.... they are so different.

Brain Candy. There, the 3 important people have voted. It is final.

It's always baffled me how Ben Stiller could have such a brilliant show, and then go on to make such dumb, brainless, formulaic romantic comedies in his movie career.

My vote goes to Run Ronnie Run.

I did see it, but I didn't think it lived up to the standards set by the show. Of course, the same thing could (and has) been said about Run Ronnie Run, but shit I didn't think of an ending for this sentence I'm going to have to abort this post

Hello, never heard of Strangers with Candy, anything imported to the UK these days has to be juuust shit enough.

In regards to the TV series, Mr. Show wins out for me and as for movies it's gotta be Brain Candy. Not that Run Ronnie Run was bad, it just wasn't that good.

Strangers with Candy gets my vote. Basically anything with a Sedaris in it... yeah.

As for movies, either Brain Candy or Zoolander. You call it formulaic, I call it fucking funny.

Strangers with Candy is good, but it sucks because I can't look at Amy Sedaris without seeing Gerry. She'd actually be kind of attractive if that show hadn't completely ruined her. But yeah, very funny show, especially Colbert. God damn I love that guy.

Out of nowhere, I suddenly thought of a single post by someone using that same avatar: Frenchie Fish!

Has anyone here ever read any of David Sedaris' work. He's Amy's brother and he's written some of the funniest books I've ever read. If you haven't, check out Me Talk Pretty One Day. There are a lot of funny stories about Amy in that one.

By the way, can anyone tell me how to get rid of the "loves carrot top" thing under my user name? I get hives and often diarrhea from just hearing his name.

in retrospect (soon enough to change it before anyone saw it) it would have been funnier if i called it "pedophilia digest"

I own the entire back catalog. The issue about pre-teen prostitutes is gripping. It's hard to believe that the asking price of whores actually goes up as their size goes down.

I can't BELIEVE you just brought up The Mommies on a Mr. Show forum! Leave Caryl & Marilyn OUT of this!

I'm pretty sure they're short little movies that air once a week at a specific time and channel. I'm also pretty sure they almost always suck. I'm not down with the kids' street talk though so you might be right.

DoctorDelicious
04-11-2006, 02:45 AM
It worked for other shows. What if we did some giant campaign to get Mr. Show back on the air? I would sell my soul to see this happen, if I hadnt already sold it for some gummy bears last week.

the age old question: do you let a show stay great in the past or risk it all to bring it back.

i'd love for it to come back, but really, it would probably be a let down. let's move on a little bit.

DoctorDelicious
04-11-2006, 03:30 AM
I dont think it would be a let down. I look back at the old sketches, and a lot of them were topical. Current events at the time, taken way past their context.

Separatists in Montana, Death Metal rock bands that inspire suicide, and on and on. Are you saying that the legends of the show couldnt come up with new material based upon all the absurdity in the world today?

I would sell my left tit for this show to come back. This isnt a case of rock singers getting old and sucking, this is Bob and David. Comedians dont get old, they just stop swearing as much in their elder days.

Protester
04-11-2006, 06:47 AM
Stop swearing? What did Bob Sagat do? He got worse.

Anyway if it got Family Guy back on the air it might work. If not we have a saying around here for the young guys - Get used to it Hitler.

DoctorDelicious
04-11-2006, 05:14 PM
Sagat was worse, then cleaned up for the Olsens.

I wont get used to it. We shall bring them back. Just as this thread died in 2004, we brought it back.

Protester
04-11-2006, 08:39 PM
I was just making a Mr. Show reference, of course I'd like them to bring it back. But the question is does Dino (insert long Greek last name here) help in the production? It would probably be lame if he doesn't have a role in it.

CptPlanet
04-11-2006, 08:43 PM
do you guys actually believe that there is a sliver of a chance that a cancelled show that nobody watched 10 years ago will be resurrected or are you just being huge embarassing dorks?
